What Are the Three Main Finishes of Wire Rope?

1. Bright Finish

A bright finish wire rope, also known as a plain or uncoated wire rope, is made of steel wires that have not been treated with any additional coatings. After the steel wires are cold-drawn, they are directly used to twist into the wire rope without further surface treatment.

2. Galvanized Finish

Galvanized wire ropes have a layer of zinc applied to the surface of the steel wires. This is typically done through either hot - dipping the wires in molten zinc (hot - galvanizing) or through an electro - plating process (electro - galvanizing).

3. Stainless Steel Finish

Stainless steel wire ropes are made from stainless steel alloys, which contain elements like chromium, nickel, and sometimes molybdenum. These elements work together to give the wire rope excellent corrosion resistance.
